Managing Semi-Active Records

Records are considered semi-active when they are consulted periodically. Units are responsible for transferring semi-active documents to Archives according to the records retention schedule, procedure 20-4: http://web5.uottawa.ca/admingov/procedure_20-4.html

By virtue of Policy 23: http://web5.uottawa.ca/admingov/policy_23.html, the University Archives are responsible for maintaining a records centre arranged according to strict conservation standards governing the storage of semi-active documents economically, efficiently and safely.

By ridding your filing cabinets of such documents, you will facilitate the retrieval of active records and gain valuable filing space in your offices.

The records retention schedule tells you which record to send to Archives and when. http://web5.uottawa.ca/admingov/documents/records_retention_schedule_2008.pdf
