Histoire administrative
L’unité du vice-recteur associé au Services aux étudiants a été créée en 2010 et opère sous la direction du Vice-recteur aux ressources. En 2010, on demande au Comité exécutif du Bureau des gouverneurs de créer cette nouvelle unité dans le but d’alléger les tâches du vice-recteur associé aux ressources financières et de répondre à la nouvelle directive de mettre plus d’efforts vers l’amélioration de la qualité de l’expérience étudiante. Lucie Mercier-Gauthier, anciennement vice-recteur associée au ressources financières, devient la première à assurer la direction de cette nouvelle unité le 16 mai 2010. Son poste regroupe les services suivants : logement, sports, vie communautaire, alimentaires (carte unique et congrès), librairie et approvisionnements tandis que le vice-recteur associé aux ressources financières retient seulement les Services de finances, de la planification financière et de la Trésorerie. Le vice-recteur associé, services aux étudiants a pour mandat de favoriser une meilleure communication entre des secteurs qui ne se parlaient pas auparavant, voir à développer un meilleur service à la clientèle aux étudiants, et trouver des moyens pour mieux communiquer et informer les nouveaux étudiants de tous les services disponibles dès leur arrivée. Il doit superviser le bon fonctionnement des services mentionnés ci-haut en plus d’assurer une saine gestion des services qui sont autofinancés comme le Logement, les Sports et la Vie communautaire. Il est aussi en contact direct avec les deux associations des étudiants, la Fédération des étudiants de l’Université d’Ottawa ainsi que la GSAED. Le vice-recteur associé services aux étudiants travaille avec plus de 12 comités avec des gestionnaires de tous les services et des étudiants de 1er cycle qui se rencontrent au moins une fois le mois pour échanger et trouver de solutions pour mieux faire circuler l’information. Ces comités se rapportent aux deux mois au vice-recteur ressources, au recteur deux ou trois fois l’an, et au Bureau du gouverneur deux fois l’an pour confirmer leur s projets et accomplissements.

Ce fonds est composé de dossiers financiers provenant en partie du Service des ressources humaines, des dossiers sur la gouvernance ainsi que des documents du Comité de harcèlement sur le campus.

Administrative history
The Associate Vice-President, Student Services unit was created in 2010 and is operating under the direction of the Vice-President Resources. In 2010, a request was made to the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors to create a new unit to take on some of the responsibilities of the Associate Vice-President Financial Resources and to help follow the new directive which aimed to improve student experience on campus. Lucie Mercier-Gauthier, who was the associate vice-president financial resources, becomes the first associate vice-president, student services on May 16th, 2010. She thus supervises the following services: housing, sports, community life, food services (unique card and congress), bookstore and supply of goods and services while the associate vice-president of financial resources retains only the Financial services, Financial planning and the Treasurer. The associate vice-president, student services has the mandate of improving the communication between sectors that did not communicate before, to develop better service for students and to find better ways to inform new students on campus of services available to them as soon as they arrive on campus. He must ensure that the above-mentioned services are working well and ensure that self-financed services such as housing, sports and community life, are managing their income in the proper manner. He’s also in direct contact with the two student associations: the Student’s Federation of the University of Ottawa and the Graduate Students Association (GSAED). The associate vice-president works with over twelve committees with managers of each services and first-cycle students. They meet at least once a month to exchange and find better ways to communicate information. These committees report every two months to the Vice-President Resources, two or three times a year to the president, and twice a year to the Board of Governors.
Scope and content
This fonds holds financial records coming, in great part, from Human Resources Services. There are also files dealing with governance and others coming from the Harassment Committee.
