Administrative history
The Institute for International Co-operation is established in 1967 in the Faculty of Social Sciences. In 1969, a graduate programme of Studies in International Development is started; it leads to a diploma in international co-operation. It becomes the Institute for International Development and Co-operation in 1981. Two internationally oriented training programs are entrusted to the Institute: Public Administration Canada Overseas and Summer Seminar Canada Overseas. Regularly scheduled spring colloquiums explore themes of international importance. The Institute is a research unit which comes under the Vice-Rector (Academic Affairs). Advice is also sought from a Board of Directors. The Institute is involved in projects in Third-World Countries. It is abolished in 1994.
Scope and content
The fonds contain files which document the functions of the Institute for International Development and Co-operation. It includes minutes: Management Council (1978-1992), Executive (1978-1989), Support Staff Committee (1979-1981), Teaching Staff Committee (1976, 1978-1979, 1982-1992), annual reports (1973-1989), an annual report of the PSIDC (1973-1974), course outlines (1969-1970, 1979-1980), student guidebooks (1990-1992), trainees guidebooks (1990-1992), the bulletin: Lettre d'information de l'ICI (1969, 1971-1991). Within the publication: the Revue canadienne d'étude du développement (1980-1991) and research papers. It also contains photographs of the activities of the Institute, foreign visitors, students in training and promotional videos.
