Administrative history

The Centre for global and community engagement was born of a desire to promote social exchanges and help educate the next generation of leaders. The Centre was launched in the Fall of 2011 and had the objective of placing students and staff members of the University of Ottawa in contact with communities that were looking for volunteers. The goal was to promote the social involvement and responsibilities among all the members of the university community and encourage its members to create durable and ethical community partnerships. In winter 2011, the Centre offered three programs: Community Service Learning program; Leave for Change program and Community Leadership Program. The Centre for Global and Community Engagement was supported by the International Advisory Board and the Advisory Committee.
