Administrative history

The Department of Sociology is established in 1955 within the Faculty of Social, Economic and Political Sciences. The Department teaches its students to analyze and understand social process and social change. Priority is given, at the master’s level, to the study of ethnic relations and the sociology development. In 2006 the department changes its name to Department of Sociology and Anthropology. In September 2014 it becomes the School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies.

Scope and content

The fonds contain files which documents the function of the Department of Sociology. It includes minutes of the Council of the Department (1964-1985), annual reports (1969-1970), biennial reports (1965-1970), student guidebooks (1977-1981), statistics (1968-1979, 1983-1987), course outlines (1974-1981), publications likes : Les cahiers du Département de sociologie (1971-1972) and Social Perspectives (1996) and correspondence (1982-1985).
