Administrative history

The Canadian and Foreign Law Research Centre opens its doors in 1962. It operates as an autonomous unit within the Faculty of Law. The centre works at fostering interest in foreign law with the cooperation of the Common Law Section and the Section de droit civil. It organizes an annual international symposium on comparative law. It also gives summer course through which graduates from the Common Law Section could gain a better knowledge of civil law and vice versa. Teh Centre officially ceases its operations in 1977.

Scope and content

The fonds contains records which document the functions of the Canadian and Foreign Law Research Centre. It includes Center Committee minutes (1967-1969), Advisory Committee minutes (1967-1969), Correspondence, publications, programs and proceedings of the symposiums on comparative law (1964-1975) and (1964-1975) and course notes (1966-1970).

Restrictions: Documents containing personal and confidential information are restricted to consultation and reproduction. The records are submitted to the Copyright's Act.
