Administrative history

The Department of Recreology was established in 1969, within the School of Physical Education. In 1978, the Department joined the Faculty of Social Sciences. Its program examines leisure as a social phenomenon, investigates leisure behaviour, researches the development of leisure studies, and analyses the ecological impact of leisure. The honours recreology program is designed so that students may also complete a concentration in several related disciplines. In 1986, the Department of Recreology changed its name to Department of Leisure Studies.

Scope and content

Office files which document administrative, teaching, and research functions of the Department. Includes departmental council minutes (1969-1973, 1982-1983) annual reports (1971-1972), Course outline (1979-1990), subject files and research projects.
