Administrative history

The Department of Biology had been active since 1946 in the School of Medicine before being transferred to the new School of Pure and Applied Sciences in 1954. Over the years, the research of the professors of the Department has earned it an enviable reputation in cellular and molecular biology, botany, ecology, physiology, and zoology. M.A. and Ph.D. degrees are offered through the Ottawa-Carleton Centre for Graduate Studies and Research in Biology.
