Administrative history

In the late 1960's, the combined initiatives of members of the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Mathematics within the Faculty of Sciences lead to the development of computing option in the undergraduate degree programmes. In 1970, the Department of Computer Science is established in the Faculty of Sciences. It offers two streams of study: general computer science and information and Management Systems. Both lead to a B.Sc. with a concentration or with Honors. The Department also offers a masters' programme in computer science. Since January 1983, Computer Science students can enroll in a cooperative educative programme. The School of Information Technology and Engineering was formed in 1997 by the merger of the Department of Computer Science and of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (SITE).

Scope and content

The fonds contain files which document the functions of the Department of Computer Sciences. It includes Departmental minutes (1970-1979) and of the Programs Committee (1982).
