Administrative history

On April 29, 1957, the Senate of the University creates the Department of English, putting it under the responsibility of the Faculty of Arts. The Department of English offers an undergraduate programme that allows students to study ancient English literature as well as contemporary British, Canadian, and American literature. The Department also offers MA and PhD programmes.

Scope and content

The fond contains files which document the functions of the Department of English. It includes annual reports (1966-1990), publications including the collection Re-appraisals Canadian-Writers (1974-1994) and the collection Bywords (1990-1994), course outlines (1979-1980), 1985), exam questionnaires (1951-1954) and the bulletin Inscape (1960, 1963-1970). It also contains miscellaneous documents of the various committees of the Department.

Restrictions: Documents containing confidential and personal information are restricted to consultation and reproduction.The records are submitted to the Copyright's Act.
